Admin Tool Usage
This is brief explanation on the use of the admin area within iCMS.
Currently the administration area is divided into 6 sections.
Image section allows you to upload and delete images into the gallery area. By clicking on the Upload link are new page will display a simple form allowing you to select an image from you local harddrive.
When this image is uploaded a thumbnail is created, which is then visible from the gallery link on the menu of your iCMS web site.
Clicking on the delete link will display your gallery you would expect, however when you click on a image this image with be deleted from the gallery.
Blog section allows for the generation and posting of new topics in your web log. The editing form is modeled on a simple word processor giving you a fair degree of flexability, allowing you to format much of the text in a manner you would be confortable with. Some of the formatting options include tables, bold and colouring of text and background. You have the ability to insert smilies and images.
The Blog section also gives you the ability to edit your own posts, but also the ability to edit comments added by people visiting your web site. With the Blog section whe you add or edit a post or comment you are required to enter a security code. This feature helps prevent web robots from submitting blog spam.
Stories / Articles section allows for the adding and editing of major articles for your home page. The editing window is modeled on a simple word processor, similar to the Blog editor, giving you a fair degree of flexability, allowing you to format much of the text in a manner you would be confortable with. Some of the formatting options include tables, bold and colouring of text and background. You have the ability to insert smilies and images. In addition you have the ability to select this article or story to become the default story to be displayed when your web page is initially loaded into a browser for viewing.
Documents section this allows for you to upload various types of documents to your website for sharing with vistiors. Currently you are able to upload PDF, DOC, TXT, and RTF documents.
Links section this area allow you to add other website links. There is a smal form where you are able to give a brief description of the linking website also an email field and an image upload for each link.
Configuration section, the area alows you to change some of the sites characteristics.
- Site
configuration allow for adding of a simple header and slogan text
(primarily for non graphic templates), for chaging the default menu
length by default 5 articles are shown. Finally for swapping templates.
If you have a number of temples for your site you can quickly and
easily swap throught them.
- Upload new template.
When or if you create you own template using the defaul or designer
template as a guide, you can zip the template up and use this tool to
install it. It's a 3 step process
- create it.
- zip it.
- upload it.
- Add delete story catagories. There is by default a single catagory for your stories. Though if you add extras it is easy to find and section different types of articles. This is where you are able to create new categories.
- Add delete menu enteries, lets you chage the default menu. You are able to switch menu options on or off, and you are able to add new links to external web pages.
- Change admin password, lets you change the password for the administration section. By default this is 'admin'.

intergrated imporvements,we have designed a tool that makes it easy to
update and maintain your web site.
