Install Requirements
For the final part of the install process to work you need to insure that the
config.php
and
.htaccess
files are writable. This means you will need to change the permissions of those files. Generally you would do this via the command line or your FTP program. However if your host is using CPanel or similar you will be able to change the permissions using the file manager.
The permissions need to be
-rwxrwxrwx (777)
Its also vitally important that when your site instillation is complete your return the permissions to
-rw-r--r-- (644)
Why are these files needed.
The
config.php
file is an intergral part of this Web Application. Without this file your version of iCMS will not install or work.
The .htaccess file is a very important file. It can be used to set many options that are used by your web server software. iCMS uses this file to set special conditions that allow your new web site to be 'search engine optimised'. This will allow the search engine robots, spiders, and crawlers to correctly index your web site in their directories.
This action will help lift your site in the results rankings when people try and search for your site via Google, Yahoo, MSN and others.
